F1 Grand Pix will be racing in Vietnam in 2020

- Vietnam will host a Formula 1 grand prix for the first time in April 2020 in Hanoi. It's such a realization of Liberty’s ambition of developing new destination to broaden the appeal of Formula 1. The Vietnam Grand Prix is the third race to be established in south-east Asia following Singapore and Malaysia - the latter being scrapped following the 2017 race due to poor ticket sales.
- The race will take place on a 3.458-mile track, which will feature one newly constructed area, runs near a stadium 12km west of the city centre. It will use existing streets with a purpose built pit area. “Part of the track doesn’t exist at the moment but the facility would be ready in time.” said F1 race director Charlie Whiting in a visit to the Hanoi location.
- There are 21 races on the calendar this season. Details of the circuit have been released by F1, the circuit layout, created in collaboration with ubiquitous F1 designer Hermann Tilke, features a straight nearly one mile long and should see car reach a top speed of 208mph (335km/h). The design also borrows liberally from other world-famous circuit: Turns one and two from the opening corners of Germany’s Nurburgring; while turns 12 to 15 similar to the climb from Sainte Devote at Monaco and turn 16-19 echo the sweeping Esses at Suzuka and the final three corners take inspiration from Malaysia's Sepang. Work had been done to enable a circuit that will not only test the drivers but also ensure that fans enjoy the racing spectacle.
- "The Vietnam Grand Prix is a further demonstration of Vietnam's ability, as one of the fastest growing economies in the world to host events on a global scale and attract tourism to the country," said city of Hanoi chairman Nguyen Duc Chung.
